History

Tic - January 2008 - June 2010

Tac - January 2008 - October 4th 2009

Tic and Tac were my two female Roborovski hamsters. I got them in early January 2008. They were my inspiration for starting this website!

I could tell them apart because of a small bite mark Tic has had on her ear since I got her. In November 2008, they had a serious fight and Tic got badly wounded on her backside, you can see photos here.

In October 2009, Tac died from a tumour on her neck. I wrote a memorial topic for her, which you can find here. In June 2010, Tic passed due to old age. You can see her memorial topic here.

Since I got Tic and Tac, I have owned 5 other hamsters. Here's a list in chronological order:

Coco (Male Syrian hamster) - 18th August 2008 - October 2009

Pickle (Female Syrian hamster) - June 2008 - June 2010

Sausage (Male  Chinese hamster) - November 2008 - Mid 2011

Salami (Male Chinese hamster) - November 2008 - Late 2011

Ickle (Female Roborovski hamster) - October 2009 - Early 2012

Photos

I currently use a Canon EOS 550D (Rebel T2i), though the majority of photos of my hamsters were taken with my previous DSLR - a Canon EOS 400D (Rebel XTi).

In the albums before and partly including September 2008, I was using a Nikon CoolPix E995.

I use Macro mode, with flash on. Many people think flash is bad for your hamsters, in my opinion, it's fine as long as the hamsters don't react to it. Join the discussion here

I also have a Flickr account, for all my other photos.

Cages

Tic and Tac have lived in a number of cages over the years. Here is a photo album of all their cages. Their first was:
