I have gotten my robo, Rhino on October 29th, but I have never seen him use the hamster wheel. Is that normal, or is there a way to help him know how to use it? I am still trying to tame him after so many days, I know that it might take up to a month, but this is what I have been doing: I have been sticking my hand into the cage, he crawls all over it, he would allow me to touch him, but when I take him out of the cage, he would run out of my hand. Do I need to put my hand in the cage longer? HELP!!!

Hi, the taming process can take a few weeks up to months-Not just a month. Also, the wheel, it might be too stiff for him. However, they use the wheel during the night as they sleep during the day-So maybe you just havn't noticed! Also.....going from hand to hand is what you need to do-If Rhino is going all over your hand, you dont need your hand in any longer-a robo is meant to walk from hand to hand or even up your arm when handling-I'd advise handling over a cardboard box because if your robo jumps out of your hand, he will just go in the box so you can quickly get him again! Speak soon, James.

THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION! it works really well! He is getting a hang of it. but one more thing, will it hurt him for repeatingly dropping into the box? I hold him about a little bit more than a foot above the box and he drops into it... will it hurt him?

i think they recommend no more than 6 inches, but make sure there is a good covering of bedding in box.

My hamsters struggle to use the wheel when on their own . It seems to take two of them to get it moving properly . Very cute to watch . Even cuter when all three get on together !

Awww! Rhino is gorgeous! Looks like my Bob. It's taken Bably Lola a few weeks to learn to use the wheel, they get the hang of it eventually. Also try putting some margarine on the centre of the wheel so it runs more smoothly

I've had my robos since August and they still won't let me touch them. I've resigned myself to the fact that either they had no human interaction before I got them or they were treated cruelly. It saddens me that I can't pet or cuddle them but I know I'm giving them a good life. Good luck!

The wheel does look like its touching the ground. Spin it while its still in the cage in the same positon. If it doesn't move then its too low. If ikt does hen your robo probaly still hasn't gotten use to it. My robos took a week to finally use the silent spinner but i think they don't like it because the wheel curves outward.

if the wheel is revolving ok, put a few sunflowers or treats on wheel to see if the hammie will get on, if they will allow you to have your hand near while hammie is stil on wheel give another treat, but make them stretch for it so they have to walk to get it, might hopefully then show them that the wheel moves ....
