I have a hamster water bottle stuck to the side of the cage but Im not sure that they know how to use it or what it even is. I have only just got them so do you think they will just work it out sooner or later? Or should I put a drop of water for them in a bowl instead?

Hi, I wouldn't advise the bowl idea....that is a very bad idea infact....as it becomes very dirty and It's totally different to drinking from a bottle-The bottle should be a bit higher than their head from normal levels-whereas with a bowl, they have to turn their heads down to drink-It will result in their fur getting wet which is very bad for their fur. Also, they don't drink much so you have probably just not seen them drink-Alsong as It's just a normal, simple waterbottle, they will know what to do, and aslong as they can reach it, it should be fine, Speak soon, James. smile

They will figure out sooner or later. I'm sure they have had a water bottle before.

Hope I helped! smile

i always check, by rubbing my finger oon the ball bearing bit to make sure there is water coming out, and if thats ok, the Hammies will find it, they will sniff it out when they want it, and it is quite rare really to see them drinking, but they will do.
