Hi everyone, I've had my robo Bozo for 4 months now and am finding her impossible to tame - she's really fast and nervous and we can't handle her at all. She seems to be of a completely different temperament to our last robo, who used to sleep beside me on the sofa like a loyal dog!

Because we can't get any contact with her apart from her eating out of our hands, we're worried that she's lonely and bored on her own. I've read that you can only introduce another robo in the first couple of weeks - is this true for all cases? We feel so sorry for poor Bozo and would love her to have a friend, and she's so timid that we can't see her hurting another hamster, but of course we wouldn't want to do anything that would endanger any robo. Is there any way an introduction could be done slowly and over time by starting off with 2 separate cages? Does anyone have any experience of this?

Thanks!

you can try having two cages side by side so they can sniff and see each other.

and i would never say it would be impossible, but its worth trying.

I have one of my  girls that is not tamable, and she has had same treatment and attention as her three sisters, so don't feel bad that you can not tame yours. They all have different tempremants.

Thanks for your response Dukeslady, I'll give some more thought to getting another cage and trying it slowly; I suppose as you say there's no harm in trying, because if they don't seem to get on because I can always keep them in different cages.

It's so frustrating having a robo you can't tame, you just want to love them!

if you want one that is very easy to hold and tame, you can always go with a syrian .... I dont hold and cuddle my robos, although all bar one now likes being stroked, and they will happily sit in my hand, but being so fast i will not bring them out of the cage, i have to many "predators" in my house ! But i enjoy them in a different way to most others on the site, i enjoy watching them do as the please, where most want a cuddly pet. But the sheer nature of the robo does not lend to being  a sit in your lap type of pet, although some have had a great deal of sucess in this area.  Besides I have two rottweilers that like to sit in my lap, so not much room for anything else !!!!

let me know ho you get on though !
